NZ Visual Diary - a Cuban diversion

To devoted and casual followers of my photographic blog (NZ Visual Diary), I offer a geo-thematic diversion (from New Zealand to Cuba), affixed with the visual promise of a punctuated explosion of colour.
From an aesthetic frame of reference, Cuba celebrates a long-lived love affair with colour. There is nothing mundane about the visual streetscape of Cuban cities. Amidst neglect and decay to centuries-old architecture and streets, a process made manifestly more crushing by the sixty year embargo imposed with crushing and intended consequence upon the nation by the United States of America, Cuba’s indigenous and colonial legacies endure in its built environment.
Of the roughly two dozen images I have processed to date as finished photographs, I elected to convert only one into a black & white format. Given my own love affair with black & white photography, this confession is significant and revealing.
Cuba is awash with evocative colour, both vibrant and faded, but always powerfully suggestive.
I will continue to post my Cuba photographic portfolio to my Google Drive for those who wish to view those images.
