Kangnam Station - Queen Street

OK, I should admit that I have not ventured inside this restaurant. It’s not that I dislike Korean cuisine. To the contrary, I often went with university mates to a wonderful Korean restaurant near the University of Kentucky, where I worked for more than thirty years.

Rather, Auckland is rich in fine restaurants, and my culinary interests have taken me elsewhere. Furthermore, when I’m in the mood (broadly speaking) for Asian cuisine, other than the haute cuisine of a place like the Cafe Hanoi, I am attracted to the cluster of ethnic restaurants on Dominion Road in the Auckland suburb of Balmoral.

Reviews suggest that the food at Kangnam Station is pretty good, but really one goes to a place like this for the visual treat and not primarily for palette pleasure. I pass the place often on my walkabouts along Queen Street. I always smile.
