St Kevins Arcade shop
The shops within the St Kevins Arcade on Karangahape (K) Road share a bohemian vibe. They market a mix of personal services (massage, watch repair and hair stylist) along with niche trades - vintage and second-hand cameras, chic contemporary furniture, clothing potpourri and bling.
The shop window of the clothing purveyor in today’s image is the display equivalent of so many circus clowns packed into an undersized car. It is a garment and fashion riot.
I wanted to capture both the display window and the young man inside the store whose hunched shoulders and bowed head announced his latest moment of mobile reading reverie.
I was struck by his appearance, specifically by his dress and headphone accessory, for he looked as if he had been outfitted at this very shop. He was so exacting in his display of fashion flare.
