140-142 block | Victoria Street West

The block is a visual placeholder, an historical echo of an erstwhile urban profile.

Heading east or west from the 140-142 block on Victoria Street West, the street traveler is confronted by modernity: to the west a building from the modernist style of the mid-20th century, to the east an edifice of 21st century glass and steel that is the TVNZ building.

In a mature city, one confident with and celebratory of a complex visual identity, there is room for such a temporal panorama.
