NZ Visual Diary - entry 278
art deco light fixture
I often poke my head into ground level foyers of commercial buildings whose front facade displays some appeal to determine if the exterior charm extends within. The transom window of the building featured in today’s entry drew my attention. The geometric design of the metal work — circles within bisected squares — was suggestive of an art deco motif. The walk within cemented the building’s charm and its art deco credentials.
The hallway light fixture is a stacked set of fabric boxes with marbleised texture capped by richly coloured edge segments. The repeating serpentine vein across the surfaces further enhances the elegance and dominance of the decorative fixture.
