35 Chancery Street (Auckland city centre)
A serendipitous turn down an unfamiliar street brought me to this elegant office building . . . ‘elegant’ not often being the word I would use to describe the architecture of modern commercial buildings.
But the office building in today’s photograph combines handsomely many of the aesthetic and architectural elements I most enjoy: an autumnal colour palette; clean and varied geometries, including strong vertical lines with horizontal segments to avoid the monotony of an undifferentiated plane; stark shadows and subtle textures; and a mixture of building materials, both stone and metal.
It was a joy to photograph and reproduce here.
Hi Rich. Another beautiful image. I was wondering: do you wait, or even return to a site ata different time, to get the lighting right?
