late afternoon along the North Wharf
I greatly admire the black & white photography of British street photographer Alan Schaller. In a recent YouTube video, Schaller demonstrated his favourite shooting perspective - shooting from the hip. Schaller couples his low-angle perspective with a propensity for shooting into the sun to create strong subject silhouettes and outsized shadows that infuse his images with unusual power and visual gravitas.
I accepted Schaller’s challenge and left my apartment for North Wharf and Silo Park in the oceanfront areas of my neighbourhood.
Patience and the adoption of a camera perspective I seldom use proved fortuitous. The late afternoon sun was kind, rendering in my image a semblance of Schalleresque shadows and silhouettes.
It was exceptionally enjoyable photographic walk.
That’s a beaut 👍
