harbour ferry entrance - Quay Street
The move in February of 2022 to a Wynyard Quarter apartment has stimulated my keen interest in nighttime photography. I enjoy the opportunities to extend the emotional power of a scene to which nighttime photography lends itself.
The architectural and ornamental elements of the ferry entrance speak of a different time. The soft lamp light and heavy shadows enhance that sense of other-worldliness, in this instance enveloping the scene with the distinct feel of Dickensian London, absent the electric lighting.
I did not pursue much nighttime photography while living in Lexington, Kentucky. Perhaps my most satisfying nighttime image from that time was a photograph of Cheapside Bar. The fractal light of the neon signs was to my eye a prized feature of the photograph.
