night light - Wynyard Quarter
LandLAB is the landscape architecture and design studio practice that played a integral role in the transformation of Wynyard Quarter and notably in the creation of Silo Park. As its website aptly states, LandLAB developed the design plan to convert the area ‘from tank farm to tank park.’ The studio’s website features some lovely photographs and descriptive narrative that illustrate and explain the design challenges it faced and the remarkable ways in which the studio succeeded in creating an inviting and enjoyable recreational space.
A walk through Silo Park is always joyful, but the nighttime experience is accented by art installations, mounted on several of the silos, utilising coloured LED lights.
As I approached Silo Park from the eastern boundary of Wynyard Quarter, I was enchanted by the bluish halo on the waterfront railing reflected from the lights of the art installation beyond it.
