spectres at a bus stop (take2)
I received some feedback about entry 272 from loyal followers of my SubStack, all of whom suggested that my image — ‘spectres at a bus stop’ — was too dark, especially in the lower left-side of the photograph. I had to admit that I had fallen prey to the ‘when in doubt, make it darker’ syndrome. Let me explain.
A friend, who is senior photography faculty in the School of Fine Arts at the University of Kentucky, once joked in conversation about photography that, as a undergraduate student, when students didn’t know what else to do to create a moody feel to a photograph, they made it darker.
I decided that my re-do would not only open up the lower left-side of the photograph but would also restore the colour version.
I would welcome feedback from followers about their preferences.
Hi Rich
I much prefer the colour version too and thank your (other) loyal followers for pointing out what I was too polite to say.
Hope you are well.
Tony
