NZ Visual Diary - entry 400
late afternoon - Freyberg Square
I have mentioned, perhaps once too often, that I love public squares and parks, those prized places that serve, in the words of one academic sociologist, as cosmopolitan canopies. In my classes, I often used the phrase ‘civic incubator’ to describe the most positive function of a cosmopolitan canopy, the proverbial village square.
And so, I celebrate my 400th post with a charming scene from a late afternoon encounter at a favourite town square and its colourful surroundings.
I’ll let this photograph speak for itself, if only softly.
