Waffle Monster - Wynyard Quarter Night Market
For 46 years, my wife has played important roles, as muse and critic, in all of my creative endeavours. I have learned to read her reactions, especially those unspoken, when I ask her to comment on photographs that I am post-processing or words I am composing, in this instance a series of photographs I took the other evening at the Wynyard Quarter Night Market.
She said nothing and walked away when confronted by a black & white experimental image, a silly thing that I knew was pretty awful, but I needed her to tell me wordlessly to move on.
And so I did by returning to my study of Saul Leiter’s photographic works, mostly to have Saul tell me, as Randolph did before him, to render in colour.
And so I did . . . with thanks to Randolph and Saul.
