compositional choices

My compositional decisions in entry 425 — please do not climb ladder — had left me unsettled. I played with the picture’s original composition to produce an off-centre photograph, electing a 5x4 format rather than a centred image within a square format.
I believe I prefer the compositional choices of the image above and not those of the original post, as reproduced below:

Which version of the photograph grabs you, assuming either does: the centred or off-centred image?



I think removing the bright brickwork on the right compels my eyes to plummet down the tunnel to the sign.
Agree with you, both the ratio AND change in centre point is good, i feel the gravity of the tunnel more. Funny that Bjorn’s feeling is exactly opposite for same reasons!
