NZ Visual Diary - entry 444
Auckland Public Library - Parnell Branch
Are they sentinels, staunchly charged
with protecting the library from a horde
of book-burning barbarians,
or themselves that marauding army
on the adavnce?
The bushes either way appear ominous.
In relief, the library remains resolute,
a monument that captures fierce symmetry in stone -
textured, proportioned and exacting.
An expression of implacable beauty.
