Queen Street abstraction
Like so many central business districts in major cities, Auckland's CBD is a generous, if not sometimes confounding, mix of architectures - old, new and reimagined.
I liked the lines and angles of the contemporary building pictured here, but wanted also the texture and colour that modernist commercial architecture - with its predilection for austere minimalism - does not permit, but older architectural styles celebrated.
Not feeling bound by the constraints of either architectural propriety or reportage photography, I indulged my impulse.
