NZ visual diary - entry 85
the swim club - Wynyard Crossing
At the edge of the Wynyard Crossing bridge, nestled in a corner of the Viaduct Marina, set comfortably in the shadows cast by the five-star Park Hyatt Hotel, at the base of a stair case that descends from the Karanga Plaza to water's edge, one finds a charming swimming area.
In the summer time, scores of children and their families splash in the marina's water or bask in the sun on towels along the steps. Auckland hosts its urban beach.
The intrepid young men pictured in this image form a scout party, eager to brace the chill of late spring and plumb the waters for signs of summer.
