Havana | Cuba
To my generous friends and kind strangers who follow my Substack blog, I offer an apology. I have been quiet for several weeks without explanation. Permit me to explain at this time.
For at least a decade, my younger daughter and I have dreamed of going together to Cuba. That shared hope was made manifest when she discovered some months ago that her professional association, the American Veterinarian Medicine Association, had announced a continuing education trip to Cuba, slated for February of 2025. So, here we are in Havana, a gaggle of vets and a hanger-on, yours truly.
I shall post photographs of our Cuban adventure as time and circumstance permit, but regular posts to my NZ Visual Diary will resume in earnest only after I return to Auckland in early March.
Enjoy today’s post, a photograph I took early on the first morning of our time in Havana. The image was captured from our 18th floor hotel room, which overlooks a major boulevard between the hotel and the marine coastline. For reasons having to do with compositional constraints, the water featured in this photograph is of the hotel’s swimming pool and not the Straits of Florida.
My favourite entry! A dream come true told in such a beautiful way 😘 enjoy your two!!
